Müller's Tales of Wonder

Front Room at Assembly Rooms

Wednesday 6th August 12.40

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A random punt to see something different from the usual comedy/musical throws up a real curiosity. In a small marquee that can hold only 40 people or so, Mr Müller gently greets us and starts reading stories from a collection of books – these are surreal and even slightly disquieting stories, studded here and there with his own commentary, all the while accompanied by a quiet and rather hypnotising musical soundtrack.

Through these links we learn that he has written a number of plays in the past but a case of severe writer’s block has meant that he has been unable to write for many years. We learn that the stories he is reading were written by Mia, his friend and mentor, whose legacy has finally persuaded him to read in public in order to revive his flagging confidence and perhaps offer a conduit toward writing again.

Throw in a couple of mysteries - the missing end to one of the stories read by the author herself, and what is really in the boxes bequeathed to him – and you have spent an intriguing hour in his company. (DM)

Müller's Tales of Wonder runs daily (not 19th) until 23rd August at Front Room at Assembly Rooms - details here
