David O'Doherty: Highway to the David Zone
Gordon Aikman Theatre at Assembly George Square
Monday 4th August 19.00
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You see the term “Fringe Royalty” put about from time to time to describe performers that come to Edinburgh, but David O’Doherty can genuinely stake a genuine claim for (self-proclaimed) ‘Queen of the Fringe’ with this year’s show “Highway to the David Zone”.
The topics he discusses aren’t anything ground-breaking (self-discovery and acceptance of nearly being 50, climate change) but the engaging story-telling, the quick wittedness and, of course, the songs set him apart from most other comedians who are at the Fringe this year, or in any other year.
There's a reason he's been coming here for 20 years and is playing such a large room, “it’s the room that normally houses the Economics welcome lecture”, because the people of The Fringe will come and see him in their droves. He always delivers and this year is no different, Highway to the David Zone is one of the best comedy shows you’ll see here this year. Who needs a castle, when you’ve got a tiny keyboard and are this funny?! (CB)
David O'Doherty: Highway to the David Zone is playing daily at Gordon Aikman Theatre at Assembly George Square until August 25th - details here
