About a Bogle ⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a week Darkchat has had, so many fantastic shows from such a range of genres. When compiling our spreadsheet (of course we have a spreadsheet) I try to balance seeing some of our favourite performers with some new companies.

The same applies to venues. I deliberately set aside one day to purely see shows in the New Town otherwise we wouldn't venture into this beautiful part of town. So, what better type of show to pick in the middle of our 'New Town Day' than "About A Bogle" at The Speakeasy at The Royal Scots Club?

We meet Harris and Hannah two friends arriving on an island to attend a festival. So far, so simple. Yet, along the way they encounter a mischievous creature creating havoc along the way.

This is good old fashioned gentle whimsy. Alex Stewart and Innis Thorburn bring likeable charm to Hannah and Harris with Ewan Jardine bringing mayhem as the Bogle and Peter Morrison and Andrew Nimmo appearing as a scene stealing double act in a variety of disguises.

We have been spoiled this week watching an astonishing array of different types of shows, proving once more the variety and quality available here is why we keep returning.

About A Bogle is a nice, fun hour but compared to other shows we have seen something felt like it was missing. I enjoyed the few songs that were sung and I would have liked some more. The performances were all good but the plot seemed a little lacking to sustain a full hour's entertainment.

I am still glad we saw it, and we loved the venue, but against the quality of an exceptional week it fell a little short.
